Gypsy hips dancers

At The Illinois Renaissance Festival, you can step back in time to the 16th Century and relive history and traditions of long ago. This full scale, live re-enactment experience is like no other. The Festival offers you a chance to visit the days of His Majesty King Henry VIII.

Visitors will hear music fill the air, as ribbons and flags wave in the breeze. They will smell exotic foods cooking, hear artisans hawking their wares, watch actors, musicians, and dancers performing throughout the day. Don't forget to cheer for your favorite knight at the joust.

Try walking across a monkey rope bridge, participate in court dances, listen to dragon stories or test your skills at the catapult contest and win a prize.

The Gypsy Hips troupe will be featured performers at the faire with 3 shows each day. Come visit our travelling tent and experience some mesmerizing dance at this top notch reaissance festival.

2011.03.12 - - Bellies for Life
The High Dive, Champaign, IL

Bellies For Life is an annual, all bellydance, breast cancer fundraiser. All proceeds of this yearly event are donated to a chosen breast cancer organization. Thanks to the amazingly supportive community in Champaign-Urbana, almost everything required for this night is either donated (the space by the Highdive, for example) or accounted for by volunteers (dancers, emcee, photographer, etc.). This minimizes the costs and maximizes the total donation.

2010.10.16 - 2010 Belly Boo

Belly Boo is an annual all belly dance breast cancer fundraiser in honor of Halloween that supports the annual Spring event… Bellies for Life. Proceeds of this yearly event are donated to a chosen breast cancer organization. Bellies For Life also aims at further exposing the local crowd to the art of belly dancing in a fun and silly way. A night of fun and entertainment, all the while for a extraordinary good cause.

Other than money, BFL also strives to raise breast cancer awareness and to encourage young women to perform self exams. Bellies For Life also aims at further exposing the local crowd to the art of Belly Dance in all of its classic and modern forms. A night of fun and entertainment, all the while for a superiorly good cause.

2009.08.29 - Illinois Renaissance Fair
Danville, IL

About the Event -- The Festival celebrates the year 1545, late in the life of King Henry VIII, when Lord Marrok Stanbrough, heir to the House of Stanbury, has just returned from his travels of the known world, to the town of Cornwall, England. In anticipation of Lord Marrok's return, King Henry VIII has proclaimed two days of feasting and celebration. Lord Marrok brings with him performers and peddlers, Gypsies from dark Romany, musicians and merrymakers, from as near as Scotland and as far away as the mysterious Island of Nippon!

The Gypsy's "stole the show" with two days of dancing that often included audience participation.
